About Andrew Whyte Fine and Media Artist from New Zealand
I live in the New Zealand tourist town of Taupo where I am an en Plein Air (in open air), Artist. This means I now paint mostly in the outdoors with a portable easel where I enjoy exposure to the ever changing light, the elements and many interested people. Born and raised in New Zealand I started painting in 1993 with my first exhibition the following year. Since then there have been six solo exhibitions.
My paintings have sold in many places both inside and outside of New Zealand. I have won landscape awards in national competitions including the Molly Morpeth Canaday art prize for the best landscape.
As an artist I am active in both amateur and professional contexts and enjoy inspiring and helping other artists. My website has video tutorials on it and my paintings have also raised thousands of dollars for charity groups over the years and I am extremely proud of this. I travel and paint having worked in the UK for two years in 2014/15.
I love taking visitors, locals and artists en Plein Air (in open air) painting in the mountains, the geothermal fields and around the beautiful Lake Taupo, New Zealand. All art supplies, tuition and transport provided for a fun easy day or half day out. See The Kiwi Painting Experience for details.
